<p>The applied learning approach focuses on the application of the core environmental knowledge to your own organisation. It is designed to appeal to those with a practical learning style, based on the concept of ‘learning by doing’.</p>

<p>The course is made up of six compulsory units each requiring a range of evidence to demonstrate competence in each unit has been achieved. You will be required to produce a Reflective Management Report, for each unit to demonstrate your understanding of the underpinning knowledge and provide evidence to demonstrate your ability to apply that knowledge to your own organisation.</p>

<p>You will produce evidence to specific criteria as outlined in the unit descriptors. This evidence will then be assessed by the Assessor to ensure all the criteria has been achieved and independently quality checked by a structured sampling verification by an Internal Verifier.</p>
<p>Candidates will receive a complementary copy of the IEMA handbook ‘Environmental Management in Organizations’ by John Brady as a core text.</p>

<p>The course is based on a distance learning approach; you will have attended an initial induction session to outline the course structure and assessment process. You will then research and produce evidence for each unit. Learning Mentors will keep in regular contact with you via email and telephone to give directed support tailored to your individual needs.</p>
<p>On a regular basis you will have face to face meetings, with your assessor to review your evidence and develop your next guided learning plan. The duration of the course will depend on your previous experience and ability to produce evidence.</p>
<p>Total learning time will be around 90 learning hours. It is expected that candidates will complete the course in an average of 6 months; although this is dependent on previous experience and work commitments, in order to accommodate this, the course is offered with 12 month support.</p>
<p>Flexible start dates for all students can be accommodated in person or via distance learning</p>

<h2>Aims</h2>
<p>To Support delegates who have completed the IEMA Associate Certificate course to identify and complete a personal development pathway, and through the assessment process, to take the final step to being an Environmental Professional and become a Full Member of IEMA (MIEMA).</p>
<p>A Full Member of IEMA is a well-rounded individual that has the necessary environmental management and assessment knowledge, skills and experience to contribute, positively and proactively, to the protection and improvement of the environment. In this capacity, a Full member is able to take a long term and strategic view with regard to the goal of sustainable development.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The Full Membership development programme takes delegates who have completed the Associate Certificate of IEMA and wish to move to Full Membership MIEMA. The programme is for any AIEMA, irrespective of how they achieved this.</p>
<p>Delegates’ will need to demonstrate their competence in all of the criteria for Full Membership in the areas of:</p>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge and understanding.</li>
<li>Application of knowledge and understanding.</li>
<li>Communication skills – internal and external.</li>

<p>This one to one support package focuses on completing a gap analysis, developing an action plan, and individual support through the IEMA Full Membership assessment process. Support Overview:</p>

<p>In part two we will guide you through the action planning and assessment process to achieve Full Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, an ideal final step for delegates looking to become the complete environmental professional. <p>You will produce evidence to specific criteria as outlined in the unit descriptors. This evidence will then be assessed by the Assessor to ensure all the criteria has been achieved and independently quality checked by a structured sampling verification by an Internal Verifier.</p>

<p>Candidates will receive a complimentary copy of the IEMA handbook ‘Environmental Management in Organizations’ by John Brady as a core text.</p>
<p>On completion of this part of the course delegates are permitted to join IEMA at associate level and use the letter ‘AIEMA’ after your name.</p>

<h2>Part Two</h2>
<p>In part two we will guide you through the action planning and assessment process to achieve Full Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, an ideal final step for delegates looking to become the complete environmental professional. Delegates’ will need to demonstrate their competence in all of the criteria for Full Membership in the areas of:</p>

<li>Knowledge and understanding.</li>
<li>Application of knowledge and understanding.</li>
<li>Communication skills – internal and external.</li>
</ul>
<p>To assess the above you will be required to complete an individual assessment, your mentor will work with you to work out your action plan and time frames. Once the work on your action plan is completed you will submit your application to IEMA which will need to demonstrate the requirements of Full Membership. A telephone interview by Members of IEMA will conclude your application.</p>

<li>Induction - Explanation of the Pathway to MIEMA Process and the Full Membership Criteria.</li>
<li>Self-Assessment Planning – Overview of the documentation for self-assessment.</li>
<li>Self-Assessment Review – Analysis of self-assessment response and evaluation to criteria.</li>
<li>Action Plan Development – Development in consultation with candidate of a plan to achieve all MIEMA requirements.</li>
<li>Mentor Support – Telephone support relating to the achievement of development plan objectives, and how to overcome barriers.</li>
<li>Application Development and Review – Outlining of application process, guidance on writing the short paper, formal evaluation and feedback on submission.</li>
<li>Telephone Interview Preparation and Mock Interview.</li>
<li>IEMA - FULL MEMBERSHIP - External Assessment.</li>
</ul>
