Site Manager Safety Training Scheme
The CITB 5-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is one of the most highly regarded health and safety training courses within the construction industry. It is available for current and prospective site managers and supervisors, and is taken by more than 10,000 people each year.
The SMSTS health and safety course is approved by CITB, because it helps site managers (and anyone wanting to become a site manager) to develop:
· a better understanding of the legal, moral and social responsibilities of their role
· to manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal requirements, including CDM.
· to identify and avoid potential hazards on site
· to prepare method statements, risk assessments and other statutory requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
The highly-interactive method of delivery of this course makes it interesting, and it allows for discussion and understanding of the subject areas together with engaging, practical exercises. During the course, candidates must pass core exercises. At the end of the course, each individual has to pass a multiple choice test which qualifies them for the Construction Site Managers Safety Certificate.
The certificate lasts five years, after which candidates must sit the ‘Two Day SMSTS Refresher Training Course’ to renew the certificate and keep their qualification up to date. This industry-recognised training course is ideal for all companies involved in construction – site clearance, ground and road works, building, assembly, civil engineering, installation, maintenance, decorating or demolition.
