IOSH Managing Safely
Managing safely is a flexible four-day course for managers and supervisors in any sector, and any organisation. It makes managers aware of the practical actions they need to take to handle health and safety in their teams. It will give them the knowledge and tools to tackle the health and safety issues they are responsible for.
IOSH Working Safely
Working safely is a one-day course for people at any level, in any sector, needing a grounding of health and safety. It focuses on why health and safety is important, and how they can make a real difference to the wellbeing of themselves and others.
Intermediate: Expected Salary c £25,000 - £35,000
Typical roles will relate to jobs with Health and Safety responsibilities. It may also be combined with other roles such as Quality, Environmental Advisors, Facilities Management, Health and Safety engineers and Project Management. Also Health and Safety Co-ordination roles in lower Health and Safety impact sectors e.g. retail and service sectors.
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
A ten day, high impact course that delivers all the Health and Safety knowledge required for those starting with Health and Safety responsibilities. The course is suitable for managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues. The certificate helps them manage risks effectively. Many people take the NEBOSH National General Certificate as a first step in a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study.
NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
The NEBOSH NCC is established as a leading health and safety award for the construction industry. It is aimed at Supervisors, Managers and CDM Principle Designers within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely. It is likely to prove useful for those concerned with the management of buildings who may need to ensure that contractors are working safely.
NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management
The NEBOSH FC is a qualification for those with fire safety responsibilities in the workplace. It is aimed at Managers and supervisors who need to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation. This qualification should enable holders to identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures required.
Advanced: Expected Salary c £30,000 - £45,000
Typical roles will relate to jobs including Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Managers, Auditors, Health and Safety Trainers or working in a Health and Safety role looking to develop to the next level.
NVQ - Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice
Distance Learning - 12-18 months (Supported and mentored). Uses Web-based portal Learning Assistant. No exams are taken as there is continual assessment.
Specialist: Expected Salary c £35,000 - £55,000+
Typical roles of those looking for Full/Chartered members of IOSH include strategic and specialised roles such as Principal Health and Safety Consultant or Health and Safety Director or Manager. Full/Chartered members of IOSH are deemed to be competent by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and are permitted to register on their Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).
